SULLIVANS ISLAND, S.C. -- You need the right identification to vote in South Carolina -- even if you're the governor.
He had a driver's license with his name on it. And a ballot with his name on it. But Gov. Mark Sanford still had to go back home and get his voter identification card Tuesday before he could vote.
The state's first lady cast a ballot, but the Republican governor had to produce the right card before he finally voted -- 90 minutes after first being turned away.
This is Sanford's latest piece of election-week bad luck. Monday, he was sidelined from campaigning after he burned his eyes under stage lighting at a ground-breaking ceremony. His eyes are still red and watery, but he said "the prognosis is good."
The governor said this is his last campaign -- win or lose.
