The survey of the British birth certificates also found 36 boys and girls in the U.K. have been named "Arsenal."

Football stars are also a common inspiration for names, according to the survey of Findmypast.com. At least three boys were given the first names "David Beckham" and 28 "Brooklyn" after his eldest son. Another 29 were named "Gazza."

It also said that golf fans have named 1,191 sons "Tiger" while some sports fans preferred brand names. Two children were called "Reebox" and three named "Adidas."

Popular movies were also an inspiration as six boys were given the first name of "Gandalf," one named "Harry Potter," and two boys called "Superman."

Spokeswoman Sarah Malone said, "It seems many of us are happy to take hero worship to a whole new level, naming our children after the stars we admire."
