Spiderprat climbs Berlin tower

Berlin - With no webs and no nets, a self-proclaimed "French Spiderman" entertained Berliners Friday by climbing a downtown skyscraper sans safety gear.

Cameras flashed and onlookers pointed as Alain Robert, 44, ascended the 106m Debis Tower. Police did not pursue the webless wonder but took him into custody after he climbed down.

Robert, who has also climbed the Empire State Building and the Eiffel Tower without equipment, waved to the crowd and pumped his fists in the air once he made it to the top. Along the way, he put up a banner for the telecommunications firm Debitel AG.
