Nutter !

A video of a biker riding at 176mph has been posted on the internet, it emerged last night. If caught, the maniac could become the fastest motorist to be prosecuted in Britain. The film shows two motorcyclists racing on the notorious Woodhead Pass blackspot on the A628 in South Yorkshire.

The road surface is wet and the lighting poor. The bikers can be seen overtaking traffic and crossing single and double white lines on the winding and undulating single-lane road.
A camera attached to the leading bike records the top speed as the motorcyclist overtakes his partner coming down a hill.

The footage appears on the LiveLeak website under the title “176 MPH Motorbike Rider” with the caption “A Yorkshire lad out for a spin opens her up slightly”.

A police spokesman said: “This was absurdly dangerous motorcycle riding, with the riders showing no regard for themselves or other road users. We will do everything that we can to identify these riders and prosecute them. These were extremely dangerous fast speeds and in our view the riders were incompetent when cornering. There’s the speed issue but there’s the whole manner of driving as well as the weather conditions. It’s a road that has some notoriety for the number of accidents.”

In 2000, biker Daniel Nicks was jailed for six weeks after filming himself riding at 175mph.

Last week, Tim Brady, 33, became the fastest motorist in Britain to be caught by a speed trap. He admitted driving his Porsche 911 at 172mph.
