Police blow up left-over Halloween gear

Police in Orlando detonated a suspicious device at the Orange County Regional History Center, which was the second in Downtown Orlando Thursday afternoon.

The package was found in the courtyard outside the history center. Police believed there was a PVC pipe inside.

The area around the history center was shut down during the investigation. It turned out it was leftover Halloween gear from Wednesday night's party.

"It took a lot of taxpayer dollars to make sure that this was rendered safe by the bomb squad,” said Lt. Dave Haley. “This is obviously an item that was used as a costume, but to us, wires hanging out, and a PVC pipe, we don't know what could be inside."

Police said another package found earlier on Church Street will be investigated. They think it may be related to an incident that also happened Halloween night.
