Sarkozy drunk ? You decide

A Belgian newsreader has apologised for suggesting the French President was drunk at the recent G8 summit. The comments related to a video clip showing Nicolas Sarkozy grinning and looking disorientated.

The footage, recorded after Mr Sarkozy emerged from a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, has become one of the most popular clips on video-sharing website YouTube.

In the clip, Mr Sarkozy arrives at a press conference short of breath and apologises for his lateness, saying he had been having a long chat with Mr Putin.

He then pauses, seemingly on the verge of giggling, before shrugging at his audience and asking: "So, what do you want? Me to answer questions?"
