World Naked Bike Ride

Nude cyclists are expected to ride through the streets of cities around the world Saturday, to highlight the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and protest against oil dependency, organisers said.

London, Paris, Madrid, Montreal and Cape Town are among the cities taking part in the World Naked Bike Ride which bills itself as the "craziest, wildest, most insane event of the year".

"We face automobile traffic with our naked bodies as the best way of defending our dignity and exposing the unique dangers faced by cyclists and pedestrians," organisers said on their Internet site.

The site said the slogan dress code for the event, which has been held each year since 2004, is "as bare as you dare".

"You decide what you are comfortable with. No one is excluded or discriminated against based on levels of clothing, bodypaint, or anything else for that matter," it said.

Among the other cities taking part are Mexico City, Prague and Washington and Barcelona, one of 12 cities participating in Spain, the most of any European country.
