Television vet Joe Inglis is due to row down the River Thames starting at Cricklade in Wiltshire in an enlarged dog bowl to raise money for charity.
Joe, from Vets in Practice, and his dog Jack are being sponsored to raise money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
The dog bowl, made from an old cattle drinking trough, has been named The Mutty Bark.
The 150-mile challenge which begins at noon on Monday, is due to finish at Putney eight days later.
After graduating from Bristol University in 1996 Joe spent seven years on BBC 1's Vets in Practice and four years as the Blue Peter vet.
He lives in the Cotswold village of Bibury with his wife Jenny, newborn daughter Poppy, Jack the dog and Jill the cat.
