Loo TV

Should I stay or should I go? It is an age old conundrum for football fans who fear missing the big match action while they spend a penny.

But football-mad drinkers at the Murderers in Norwich need worry no more because TV screens have been installed above the urinals - ensuring a loo with a view.

Phil Cutter, landlord of the Timber Hill pub, said he came up with the idea after taking a toilet break himself in a pub in Ipswich.

“I remember going into the pub and they had loudspeakers in the toilets and I thought we could go one better than that,” he said.

“We were having the toilets re-done anyway. We always had chalk boards in the toilets advertising games and what was coming up and I thought about what could be developed, and be a bit different. We're quite well known for sport anyway and always at half-time in the game people wander away from the bar to go to the toilet so I thought we could kill two birds with one stone.”

Two TV screens have now been installed in the men's toilets and are waiting to be hooked up with the latest technology to give fans the best possible digital pictures of the games.

And when there is no Premiership or international games on the screens, the pub can show in-house advertising so there will always be something to look at.

Mr Cutter said the televisions had already proved a big talking point with punters - with some of the women coming in also wanting something similar in the ladies' loos.
