Sir Ian Botham has collected his knighthood from the Queen at Buckingham Palace, describing it as a “mindblowing” day he will never forget.
The ex-England all-rounder and Sky commentator was bowled over by his date at the Palace, saying: “I've had some great moments in sport and other walks of life - but nothing matches this.
“It was mindblowing, magnificent...That today (Wednesday) blows everything away.”.
Nicknamed Beefy, Botham finished his career as England's leading Test wicket-taker with 383 victims as well as more than 5,000 Test runs.
He received his knighthood for services to charity, as well as his cricketing exploits - raising millions for Leukaemia Research, embarking on a host of long-distance walks including from John O'Groats to Land's End.
I meant to post this yesterday, sorry Sir Ian.
