Ashland, KY - An ambulance driver in northeastern Kentucky has been charged with driving under the influence of controlled substances. Police say the driver ran two red lights with a patient in the back.
Ashland police Captain Todd Kelley says Steven Marcum of Mingo County, West Virginia, was transporting a patient yesterday for Jan Care Ambulance when he ran the lights.
Kelley says the ambulance's lights and siren were not on. Kelley says Marcum failed a field sobriety test and was blood-tested for drugs before being taken to the Boyd County Detention Center.
The patient was transferred to another ambulance and taken to a Huntington, West Virginia, nursing home.
