Pittsburgh - An employee of Idlewild Park told police he called in two bomb threats to the park over the weekend because he didn't want to go to work, according to an affidavit.
Robert A. Deemer, 21, of New Florence, was arraigned Tuesday in Ligonier and faces a preliminary hearing Oct. 19.
Mr. Deemer is accused of using his cell phone to call in threats on Saturday and Sunday, causing a massive police response, a delay in the park's opening and traffic jams on Route 30.
In court papers, Ligonier Township police said park employees recognized his voice on 911 tapes made of the calls. Mr. Deemer initially denied making the calls but later admitted he did it so he wouldn't have to show up for work.
