He's done it AGAIN !

Naked rambler Stephen Gough stunned air passengers when he stripped off on a flight to Edinburgh today. The former marine had been travelling to Scotland to challenge contempt of court finds made against him for being naked.

But the 47-year-old failed to make it into the dock at the Appeal Court after his mid-air stunt.

Airline FlyBe said Gough had been fully clothed when he boarded the 6.45am flight from Southampton this morning. But he later emerged naked from the toilets and when cabin crew asked him to get to get dressed in the interests of fellow passengers the naturist refused.

He was arrested at Edinburgh Airport when he came off the flight by officers from Lothian and Borders Police.

A police spokeswoman said Gough, from Eastleigh, Hants, was likely to be charged with breach of the peace. He is being held in police custody ahead of his expected court appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.

Gough completed his second marathon nude walk the length of Britain in February. He braved icy temperatures and frequent brushes with the law to defend what he claims is his right to appear naked in public.

Sheriffs in Edinburgh have found him in contempt on four separate occasions for refusing to cover up for court. His appeal against those decisions was due to be heard by a panel of three High Court judges today.

Lord Johnston, sitting with Lord Nimmo Smith and temporary judge Gordon Nicholson QC, decided that the case should be heard before a panel of five judges, over two days, on a date yet to be set.

The judge said his personal view was that the law on contempt was a "total mess".

He urged Gough's defence team to persuade their client that he was "doing himself no good" by continuing to act as he has been doing.
