Wellington - A New Zealander whose right leg was amputated because of diabetes is trying to sell it to raise money for his daughter who has inherited the disease, a newspaper reported on Thursday.
Shane Torrance, 42, kept the tattooed leg in the freezer for 15 months before deciding to sell it. But his plan has been foiled by the on-line auction website Trade Me which said it was "distasteful," the Nelson Evening Mail said.
Torrance put a reserve price of NZ$3 000 on his leg but received no bids, although it was viewed by 20 people before Trade Me withdrew it.
He said he was not sure why he had kept the leg, which he still hopes to sell.
"Maybe it's because I'd had it for 42 years," he told the paper.
