Police caught up with the man they thought had robbed a Fayetteville bank, but when he went to show them the loot, he discovered he'd been ripped off, too.
A police spokeswoman says Joseph Thomas Mulkerin was arrested at a Bragg Boulevard motel and charged with common law robbery of almost 22-hundred dollars from a Wachovia branch.
Mulkerin went to his motel room to show officers the money, but discovered some of it was missing.
Police later charged motel maintenance man David Mims with breaking into the room and taking some of the cash.
Mulkerin had been released from prison on January 11th after serving a sentence for the 2005 robbery of the same bank, in which he pleaded guilty to taking nearly 11-hundred dollars.
