Dinner on a mountain

Diners, formally clad in black-tie or evening gowns, are hitching a lift to the summit of one of England's highest peaks in an RAF helicopter. Helvellyn in Cumbria is playing host to the exclusive lunch with food provided by a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Everything, including tables and chairs, is being flown to the summit and later returned by the RAF, which is using the event as a training exercise. People taking part will make a donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.

Jenny Kershaw, from the Multiple Sclerosis Trust, described the event, which will take place on Monday lunchtime and involves six dinner guests, as fantastic.

She said: "It's part of a series where people hold supper or dinner parties, invite their friends and families and ask them to make a donation to the trust.

"As far as I know this is the most ambitious of them."

"There are so many things that have come together in a very short time. We are over the moon."
