The mayor of Wadowice, Poland has told believers who were flocking his town to drink at a "miracle fountain" from a statue of Pope John Paul II, that the water is coming from just an ordinary water pipe.
The daily newspaper Dziennik says local residents in Pope John Paul II's hometown of Wadowice, have been flocking to the statue, believing a miracle had happened when water began sprouting from the base of the statue.
Soon, word spread across the country with pilgrims crowding the tiny town to fill up whatever container they have with the liquid.
But Mayor Ewa Filipiak doused cold water on their belief when she told the crowd the local council installed a pipe beneath the statue.
She said, "We didn't mean anything by it, it was just supposed to make the statue look prettier."
