The parents of one-year-old twins are trying to trace the good Samaritan who saved their sons from being knocked down on a busy dual carriageway in Leeds , West Yorkshire.
Susan and Mark Gregory were distraught after toddlers Thomas and Samuel went missing from the back garden of their home in Rothwell.
After racing outside they saw that the gate, which leads around the side of the house directly onto the busy Leeds Road, had been opened and the pair were nowhere to been seen.
But the horrified parents ran round to the front of the house to find a man with a mischievous 15-month-old tot under each arm.
The mystery hero had immediately spotted the danger and pulled over after they wandered into the middle of the road.
The incident happened around 6.15pm on Thursday August 3.
Susan, 35, said: "A few minutes earlier everything was fine and the next time we checked, the gate was wide open and they were nowhere to be seen. We were both completely in shock and dreaded the worst. When we got out to the front we saw this man with Thomas and Samuel under either arm, walking back towards the house. Mark shook his hand and told him how grateful he was – but we were in such a state we didn't have a chance to thank him properly or ask his name."
Mrs Gregory said the only thing they can both recall was that the man was in his 30s, about 6ft tall, slim and with dark skin.
