Station What station ?

Embarrassed rail bosses have been forced to launch an investigation after a customer service adviser was unable to tell a passenger where Waverley Station was.

Businessman Nick McCourt could not find the Edinburgh station on the First ScotRail website's station search so he e-mailed the company's customer helpline. I did a check and even Network rail has never heard of it .... Click picture to see bigger image

Mr McCourt, 37, of Glasgow, was amazed when he received a response which said: "We are unable to locate Waverley Station."

On another page, the website describes Waverley as the biggest station outside London with 23 million passengers passing through its doors. It is in the middle of a £150 million upgrade.

When Mr McCourt contacted ScotRail a second time, he was told: "I can confirm that there is a station called Edinburgh Waverley but it is not mentioned on our website. If the station is not mentioned on our website it means that we do not have any service to or from that station."

First ScotRail has promised to investigate the blunder.
