Wales -- A small food shop in the coastal town of Barmouth in Gwynedd has been named as one of the world's top 100 shops by a trade magazine. The self-service store "Weigh Out" is the only shop in Wales to make the list compiled by Retail Week.
It was named alongside a host of prestigious stores, including Bloomingdales in New York and Selfridges in London.
"Weigh Out", which employs three staff, sells a range of foods from dried groceries to loose sweets.
Liz Morrell, the features editor of Retail Week magazine described it as a "really unusual little store in a little seaside town in Wales".
"You fill your scoops with whatever takes your fancy, and leave with ambitious baking ideas that sadly, I rarely follow through," she added.
The owner , Ms Linda Howells , 43 , worked at the shop for 10 years before she bought it six years ago when the previous owner retired.
She said: "The idea (of the shop) is you can just buy the amount that you want, so you don't have to buy big boxes or packets of something you only need a couple of ounces of.
Ms Howells said the shop's inclusion in the world's top 100 stores came as a surprise.
"It's just amazing," said Ms Howells. "We're just so stunned and delighted for being included."
