A Wild West enthusiast from Huntly has been given the go-ahead to create his very own frontier town, despite the concerns of nearby residents. Alistair Baranowski plans to stage cowboy re-enactments on his land at Drumblair, Aberdeenshire.
Mr Baranowski, or Jonny B as he is known, already has a saloon.
He has now been granted permission to add a sheriff's office, a jail and an undertakers, after agreeing to limit events at the site.
His plans were opposed by his neighbours at listed Drumblair House, who raised concerns the re-enactments would be very noisy, with "whoopin' and a hollerin', gunfire and drinking".
However, planners reported that woodland between the two properties would afford sufficient privacy.
Mr Baranowski has agreed to open only 28 days a year and councillors agreed to grant permission for two years to assess the venture. The 53-year-old retired sub postmaster estimates he has already spent thousands of pounds on his Wild West project.
The US frontier has been a passion of his since he was given a cowboy outfit as a child.
Speaking when he revealed plans for expansion, he said: "I have been involved in re-enactments since the 1970s, but it was only more recently that I have had the money to start building."
