Window shopping

NEW YORK -- It's window shopping, with the emphasis on shopping.

A Polo Ralph Lauren store in Manhattan is offering sidewalk browsers a chance to buy.

The store has a new interactive holographic screen on its windows. If shoppers see something they like, they can whip out the plastic and buy the item, even when the store is closed.

The system scans the customer's credit card through the window.

If you think it sounds a little sci-fi, you're right. Company officials said the interactive window display was inspired by the Steven Spielberg movie "Minority Report."

The system will be up for about a month.
