Married via satellite

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- When Max Furman Jr. wanted to get married, he and his fiancee, Jodi, wanted his father to perform the ceremony.

But Max Furman Sr., a United Methodist minister, was thousands of miles away. He's a major and chaplain in the Army National Guard.

Modern technology came to the rescue, though. The U.S. embassy in Baghdad arranged a satellite hookup, and the couple exchanged their vows at the National Guard facility in Harrisburg.

The younger Furman is a second lieutenant in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard's Stryker Brigade. The groom wore dress greens and the bride wore white.

As part of the ceremony, Dad brought a message about spending time together to strengthen the relationship for times of separation.
