A Royal mineral water could help beat cancer, scientists revealed yesterday.
Deeside Water, part of Prince Charles’s Duchy Originals range, slowed the growth of cancerous cells and was particularly effective on bowel cancer.
Researchers used it to treat diseased cells then compared them with cells treated with tap water.
They found that the Deeside liquid — sourced from near Balmoral, Scotland — held up the growth of bowel cancer cells 62 per cent faster than tap water.
It was 35 per cent better at slowing the spread of liver cancer, 21 per cent more effective with cervical cancer and seven per cent better with skin cancer.
The experts — from the University of Maribor in Slovenia — called for more studies into Deeside water.
But they believe cancer sufferers could benefit simply by drinking it. The water has already been shown to help beat the inflammation that leads to arthritis.
But Deeside Water spokesman Martin Simpson insisted: “Deeside is not a miracle cure.
“It’s not a replacement for any treatment. But we hope it may complement medical therapies.”
- DRINKING at least five cups of green tea a day cuts your chances of dying young by 16 per cent, a study claimed yesterday.
