PALM HARBOR, Fla. -- William Fogarty is making good on a long-forgotten parking ticket.
He mailed a $1 money order to police in Norfolk, Va., to pay the fine on a ticket he got in May 1946.
The 86-year-old retiree said he bought the money order shortly after getting the ticket 60 years ago, but forgot to send it in.
He said he found the ticket and money order while going through a box of keepsakes from his old Navy days.
His honesty is encouraging to officers in Norfolk, they said.
Police Officer Chris Amos said they won't be cashing Fogarty's money order.
Instead, they're going to frame it.
"It's one of those restoring-your-faith-in mankind things," said Amos.
