Get your own back on sloppy tradesmen

New Zealand -- Sick of your tradesman turning up late only to do a sloppy job? Well, now you can have revenge on the internet.

A website has been launched so people upset, or satisfied, with the efforts of their chippie, sparkie and plumber can post their opinions online.

The site stems from a Christchurch woman's frustration over a plumber who never turned up at the agreed time.

Over 600 reviews have been posted since the site was launched a week ago.

The most common complaints include tradesmen turning up late, not returning calls, and leaving a mess.

Fed up with a plumber's continual no-shows, Jan Parkin suggested to her son that he and a friend design a website where people could review their tradesmen.

Chris Parkin and Matthew Burgess have launched the site. Burgess said the reviews were carefully checked.

"Every review that comes in is examined before being posted on the site. If we have any concerns, we contact the reviewer, and if we're still not happy, we dump it. Tradesmen also have the option of responding to every review of them on the site."

While consumers did leave negative comments, over 90 per cent of the reviews had been positive. No-one would be able to leave more than one review for the same tradesman, and a reviewer had to register with their own email address.
