PLEASANT HILL, Iowa -- Ice foiled an armed robbery attempt at a McDonald's in Pleasant Hill overnight.
Employees at the McDonald's on Sherry Lynn Road called police just after midnight.
"An employee had left the store to dump some trash," Sgt. Steve Johns said. "When he was coming back in he was approached by the suspect."
The suspect forced the employee back into the store.
Police said when they arrived, 21-year-old Adam Greene was carrying a handgun and trying to make his getaway.
Police said they chased Green into the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex, where he slipped on ice, smacking his head on a car bumper.
Greene was transported to Broadlawns Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.
