SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Some parents at a Sacramento County elementary school are accusing a gym teacher of pushing students too far.
Students at Robla Elementary School said teacher Francis Norsworthy told them to run a lap while she timed them.
Each fifth-grader had to finish the lap in two minutes. If one person was too slow, they all had to run again. The students ended up having to run eight laps, officials said. When the students were done, some got sick.
Paramedics were called to the campus to help a student who had asthma. The school suspended Norsworthy for three days, but she is now back on the job.
Some parents said they are upset over how the school administration handled the incident.
"Not only is she back at this school, but they're sweeping it under the carpet pretty much and saying this is an insolated event," parent Robert Ridgley said. "There's other parents out there that need to know this woman is teaching their children."
Ridgely and several others parents met with the school principal and superintendent about the issue. They said they were told that Norsworthy will not teach that particular fifth-grade class again this year.
