I'm with stupid T-shirts banned

Americans don't mind poking fun at George Bush, but when it comes to royalty they get very serious.

As the Queen gets ready to kick off her first tour of the US in 16 years with a visit to Virginia, authorities there have asked people not to greet her wearing 'I'm With Stupid' T-shirts.

The popular range has an arrow pointing to the side to humorously insult the person next to the wearer and they fear she may be offended.

The ban has been imposed on 100 'commoners' who have won places in a lottery for a front-row place during a royal walkabout. Virginia's governor Tim Kaine says the visit will be a 'very powerful day' and workers have been out painting fences, installing lampposts and laying bricks and new grass.

The Queen will be joined by the Duke of Edinburgh for the six-day East Coast tour which begins on Thursday.

On the first leg they will mark the 400th anniversary of Jamestown, the first permanent English colony in the US.

The Queen is also expected to pay tribute to the 32 victims gunned down by Virginia Tech student Seung-Hui Cho.

The finale of her stay will be two days in Washington DC, where she will meet the president.
