Monkey art

Six giant inflatable monkeys have appeared in cities across Scotland. The 30ft creations are by Austrian designer Stefan Sagmeister, who has previously designed album covers for the Rolling Stones and Lou Reed.

They were inflated in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee and Stirling from midday as part of the £3m Six Cities Design Festival. The three-and-a-half-week festival will include more than 250 free events and exhibitions.

The monkeys together spell out the phrase "everyone always thinks they are right."

Mr Sagmeister has designed the nationwide installation as part of his global project "Things I have learned in my life so far".

The monkeys are on display outside Gap in Buchanan Street, Glasgow; in Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens between The Mound and Lothian Road; in Castlegate, Aberdeen; lying on top of the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery in Castle Wynd; in front of the Caird Hall in City Square, Dundee; and in Kings Park, Stirling.
