Dopey returned

Flint, Michigan - Dopey the Dwarf has returned, but three of his fellow stone statue dwarfs are still missing.

Dopey -- one of four 2 1/2-foot tall dwarfs, along with Snow White, that were stolen from Sue Austin's front yard on Aug. 31 -- was found Sunday in the front yard of a swanky subdivision in Davison Township.

Austin, whose story appeared in The Flint Journal on Sunday, said someone called her anonymously with a tip that a dwarf wearing a purple hat and green coat was in the front yard of a Country Club Estates home.

So on Sunday morning, Austin drove to Country Club Estates and positively identified Dopey. She said she called Davison Township police, who talked to the family and retrieved the 200-pound statue.

Davison Township police confirmed to The Flint Journal that a teenage girl at the home told police she was given Dopey at a party. She told police she doesn't remember whose house she was at, police said.

The dwarf-napping case has been referred to Flint Township police. Bashful, Sneezy, Grumpy and Snow White are still at-large.

Police could spend considerable investigatory time recovering the other three dwarfs, or perhaps they could just consult the magic mirror.

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, where are Sue Austin's other three dwarfs?"
