French priests who have been visiting Jersey to celebrate mass in Latin have effectively been barred from the island's churches.
Church leaders said it was because the French priests failed to accept the validity of priests ordained in the English language.
Canon Nicholas France said: "I've written to the French priests for reassurances, but we have not had any."
He added: "So the priests will no longer be visiting the island."
