Missing french fry rage

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 31-year-old man in Jacksonville was arrested after he rammed his car into a McDonald's after not receiving two bags of french fries he ordered earlier, police said.

Investigators said David Spillers became enraged and rammed his car into the side of the Jacksonville restaurant where customers sit and then into an area were children usually play.

"He got angry because his order was incorrect," Jacksonville Sheriff's Office representative Ken Jefferson said. "He rammed his car into the kid play area of this establishment."

Officials told First Coast News in Jacksonville that Spillers caused $75,000 in damages.

"It is a lot of damage but what is worst is that people could have been killed as a result of this guy's poor decision because of an order that was not correct," Jefferson said.

Police said Spillers was tracked down after driving to his grandmother's apartment.

McDonald's issued a note concerning the incident. "The safety of our customers and employees at our restaurants is very important to us. Fortunately, no one was injured in this unfortunate, isolated incident. We're cooperating fully with the authorities in their investigation of this matter."

"People are human and they are going to make mistakes with orders but you have to manage your anger and clearly he didn't," Jefferson said.

Jefferson said Spillers confessed to the incident. He faces charges of reckless driving and felony criminal mischief.
