Clever (Not!)

An ATM robbery in Portland, Ore., was solved within minutes after the victim ran across the street to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

A 23-year-old Portland man was robbed Monday night of $480 by two men armed with a butcher knife, The Oregonian reported.

When the robbers ran off, the victim went across the street to the sheriff's office.

The Sheriff's Department called Portland police for backup and soon five officers were out on a search. Less than 10 minutes later, the alleged suspects were nabbed with $480 in their pockets. The butcher knife was found nearby, the newspaper said.

A sheriff's department spokesman told the newspaper that he doesn't know if the alleged suspects were aware how close they were to the the sheriff's office, which has a sign and police cars parked outside.
