Residents of a Bantry St house in Alexandra were left shaken yesterday morning when they woke up to find a stranger asleep on their couch.
Constable Craig Colyer, of Alexandra, said police were called to the house when residents discovered a 19-year-old male asleep in their living room.
The man, who was wearing no shoes, had no memory of how he came to enter the house, Mr Colyer said.
The man told police he had been drinking at a friend's place the night before and had taken party pills.
Police found no evidence of forced entry and did not know how the man had entered the house.
The man was referred to Mental Health Services and released after consultation with them.
No charges would be laid.
