Wheel of fortune payback

A Colorado man who owes more than $180,000 to investors in a securities fraud case may be getting payback help from a television game show.

Scott McDonald has won $47,000 on "Wheel of Fortune." The former TV news executive said he would use the loot to repay former coworkers and friends who had given him money to invest.

McDonald pleaded guilty to felony theft in 2001 after prosecutors said he had gambled away that money.

He told The Denver Post that his game show appearance was an opportunity that he didn't think he'd get.

McDonald said he was chosen for "Wheel" after the show held auditions in Denver last year. He said they never asked about his criminal history.

His episode aired this week. McDonald said he considered his show appearance an "opportunity to pay people back quicker."
