This is the moment that Jim Moore, 28, rode the 30ft wave that is known to surfers as “The Widow-maker”, and which was caused by storm-swell and winds off Cornwall.
Mr Moore, an engineer from Porthtowan, Cornwall, was the only person to paddle out from Fistral Beach to ride the wave, which happens only once a year and is also known as the Cribbar, off the beach in Newquay. He was in the water for just over an hour.
