DALLAS -- Richard LeFevre a 62-year-old retired accountant from Nevada is the winner of the Jalapeño Eating World Championship held at the State Fair of Texas.
He downed 247 of the hot peppers in just eight minutes. For his efforts, LeFevre won $2,000.
He said there's a method to his fiery madness. LeFevre mixes three or four peppers in his mouth with a swig of milk before swallowing.
Another veteran eater, Christopher Huang, entered the competition even though he doesn't usually eat spicy foods. He had to bow out after just 53 jalapeños.
Huang said for a few minutes he couldn't speak or even feel his face.
If you have a strong stomach you can watch them gorge on peppers here.
