A woman who spent 30 days in a dog kennel is home tonight. Cheryl Walker emerged from her temporary home at the Grant County Humane Society Sunday afternoon.
Walker moved into the shelter to raise awareness about adopting animals. She also wanted to draw attention to the kennel's need for funding a renovation.
In the end, she says her stay was worth it. "It had a huge impact. We got people to the shelter who'd never been here before and we got everybody talking about the ‘crazy woman in the kennel', and that's what I wanted," Walker says.
She continues to say that it was exciting to come of the shelter and talk to people, instead of just hearing dogs barking.
During her 30-day stay, the shelter raised $8,000 and was able to find homes for 110 animals.
