Tightrope record

A tightrope walker has broken a world record by balancing on a cable car wire 1,300ft above an Alpine valley.

German Falko Traber, 46, walked 500ft on the 1.6ins thick cable car wire above the Saukaser valley in Austria.

Traber, of the Traber tightrope-walking dynasty which has been performing since the 14th century, already holds a number of tightrope world records.

Earlier this year, his nephew Johann, 22, hit the headlines when he fell during a balancing act on a high mast in Hamburg. After months in a coma he is now starting to recover.
