BONO yesterday won a court battle to get his cowboy hat back from U2's former stylist who took it 19 years ago.
Lola Cashman insisted he had given her the stetson, some earrings, a sweatshirt and trademark black trousers as gifts during the Joshua Tree tour.
She claimed Bono had been running around in his underwear backstage in Arizona in 1987 on the last night when she asked him for the hat.
She claimed at Dublin's High Court that he "plonked" it on her head. Later, in 2002, she put some of the memorabilia up for auction at Christie's. U2's lawyers then asked for it back. But the court ruled that she probably wasn't given the items in the first place.
The band, currently on a tour of Australia playing some of their biggest hits, including the Unforgettable Fire, won't be chasing her for damages or costs.
However, Ms Cashman is still suing them for defamation over letters they sent asking for their stuff back.
