Baby wipes for our troops

An operation has been launched in an Angus town to supply commandos fighting in Afghanistan with baby wipes.

Troops from Arbroath-based 45 Commando said they needed to cut down on the use of water, which is regarded as a precious commodity in the country.

A huge operation has begun to ship crate loads of the items from home.

The marines, fighting the Taliban in Helmund Province, have found the wipes are the answer to keeping clean while operating in the desert.

News of the commandos urgent need for the baby wipes soon filtered through to the business community in Arbroath, which has established an appeal.

Boxes of wipes are already flooding in to collection points in the town.
