Looking to boost revenue, US Airways will begin selling advertising on its airsickness bags in September.
The Tempe-based carrier already sells space on its tray tables and napkins.
"We were the first airline to do tray table advertising, the first airline to offer the Bill Me Later program and the first airline to utilize a gift card, so now we are venturing into a new way to boost revenues," said spokesman Phil Gee.
And for those who think it would be a tough sale, getting a company to put a name on a "barf bag," Gee said the airline already is talking to several potential advertisers.
"The airsick bag is not used like it was in the past -- primarily with turbo-prop aircraft and cabins that weren't pressurized -- so the negative connotation of the sick sack has gone away," said Gee.
US Airways Group Inc. operates approximately 3,800 flights per day and serves more than 230 communities in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America. AND for this free advertising I would like a round trip return from Sheffield to Greensboro tyvm.
