The World Black Pudding Throwing Championship is to be recreated by gardening experts - in flowers. Council officials at Bury in Greater Manchester, home town of the delicacy, are entering the unusual design in Cheshire's Tatton Flower Show.The pudding competition, in which entrants try to knock rival Yorkshire puddings off a wall, is held every year in Ramsbottom. The floral bed will depict a hand in motion alongside both counties' roses.
The design is currently being nurtured by experts and will be assembled when the Royal Horticultural Society show gets under way in two weeks.
The flower bed will show both counties' white and red roses, with a pink centre, where the two counties merge on the Pennines. The throwing competition is designed to mimic the War of the Roses between Yorkshire and Lancashire. Legend has it that when both armies ran out of ammunition, they threw food at each other.
Ramsbottom's main street closes to allow competitors to throw the puddings at the Yorkshire puddings off two platforms.
The most knocked off in one go, after two attempts, determines the world champion.
Chadwicks black pudding company is also involved with the flower bed competition entry. The family-run business has been based on Bury's market since 1929.

This is definitely along the lines of Pickled Pigs feet. Neither of which I would eat.
Black pudding is yummy ,especially with a full fried breakfast ( as long as you don't know the ingredients!)
