Cabbage patch wife lovers

Detailed plans are currently afoot for a group of devoted Japanese men to gather in a cabbage patch in a sleepy part of rustic Gunma Prefecture so they can scream their lungs out about their love for their wives, according to Shukan Asahi.

These men are members of the Japan Aisaika Association, the "aisaika" literally translating as "wife lovers."

They're gathering on Sept. 9 in the Gunma Prefecture village of Tsumagoi, which is where the legendary 4th century Emperor Yamato Takeru no Mikoto allegedly bawled following the loss of his wife, who had sacrificed her own life to soothe the gods' wrath toward her husband.

Legend has it that the emperor loudly wailed his love for his missus following her demise, prompting the modern-day devotees of spousal adoration to head out to Tsumagoi, which translates as "Wife Love"; but instead of the romantic spot it may have been 1500 years or so back, it's now best known for its cabbages.
