A dim-witted burglar was caught after ordering a taxi as a getaway car.

Christopher Morgan, 22, smashed a window to break into a house while the owners were out, then used the phone to call for a cab at 5am.

But the taxi driver noticed the broken window and called cops.

Prosecutor Tony Trigg told Cardiff Crown Court: “Morgan tried to bluff by pretending to be the home owner.

“But the police found all the items he intended to steal stacked up by the front door.” Morgan, of Taffs Well, Cardiff, was jailed for 21 months.
